"Pregnant in October, give birth at one time." After just experiencing the exhaustion of childbirth, the biggest task of the new mother is to secrete milk and feed the baby.

Breast milk is the most precious food for babies

The "Dietary Guidelines for Chinese Residents (2016)" mentioned that "infant formula is a helpless choice that cannot be exclusively breastfed." The absorption and utilization of nutrients in breast milk is generally higher than that of infant formula. In addition to breast milk containing all the necessary nutrients for babies, it is also rich in various immune factors. The rich human immunoglobulin, human cytokines, lactoferrin, lysozyme, bifidobacteria and other ingredients in breast milk provide effective anti-epidemic for babies. system. Therefore, new mothers insist on exclusive breastfeeding for at least 6 months, which is the first best care for the baby after birth.



But many new mothers are facing the problem of insufficient milk. How can we make new mothers get more milk?

1. Start breastfeeding as soon as possible and insist on breastfeeding

In the first few days after delivery, it is a common phenomenon that the amount of milk is small or cannot be secreted immediately in the first 2 to 3 days.

At this time, do not rush to feed your baby sugar water or infant formula milk powder. After receiving the first bite of food, your baby can easily reject other foods instinctively. If the baby is unwilling to suck breast milk later, it will cause the problem of further reduction of breast milk secretion. It is very likely that you will not eat or cannot eat breast milk, so your baby's first bite must be breast milk.

Moreover, a normal baby will store the energy needed for 2 to 3 days after birth before being born, and short-term hunger will not have serious consequences.



The baby's sucking is the most important factor in stimulating milk secretion. As the number of sucking increases, the milk will also increase. Therefore, new mothers should not care about the initial low or lack of milk. As long as the baby sucks repeatedly (at least 10 times in a 24-hour period) and insists on breastfeeding, the milk of most new mothers will gradually increase.

2. Reasonable nutrition, drink plenty of soup

Inadequate nutrition of the new mother will not only affect the health of the new mother, but also reduce the amount of milk secretion and reduce the quality of breast milk. For example, protein nutritional status will have a significant impact on lactation, and the dietary intake of essential fatty acids, fat-soluble and water-soluble vitamins in new mothers is directly related to the content of these nutrients in breast milk. Therefore, in order to ensure the quality of breast milk, the most important guarantee measures are A diversified balanced diet means that vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, eggs, milk and poultry must be consumed in moderation.



In addition to nutrients, the daily water intake of new mothers is closely related to lactation. As much milk as the new mother secretes, she needs to drink as much water. Therefore, new mothers should drink plenty of water every day and eat food with soup. New mothers can drink about 250ml of water or milk before breastfeeding. Do not drink too much. Drinking too much may hinder lactation.

3. Drink more "prolactin soup"

Investigations have shown that soybeans, peanuts and various meats, such as ribs, pork knuckles, crucian carp, cuttlefish, chicken stew soup, vinegar and pig's knuckles, egg soup, etc., can promote milk secretion. These soups are usually called " Prolactin soup". But drinking prolactin soup must also be scientific.



1. Do not rush to drink prolactin soup after delivery

In the first few days after delivery, the new mother has a weak spleen and stomach and has a light diet. Moreover, most of the mammary ducts of the new mother have not been fully stretched. Drinking the prolactin soup too early will easily increase the milk and cause breast pain. It is recommended that new mothers drink it 3 to 4 days after delivery.

2. Eat meat while drinking soup

The nutrient content of the broth is only about 10% of the meat, and most of the nutrition is still in the meat. Don't just drink the soup and not eat the meat.

3. It is not advisable to drink rich oily and salty soup

The oily soup is mostly because there is too much fat in the soup, which not only affects the appetite of pregnant women, but also affects new mothers and babies with indigestion and diarrhea. It is recommended to choose low-fat meat as the ingredients for the soup, such as fish, lean meat, skinless poultry, lean ribs, etc. No extra cooking oil is added to the soup. When drinking the soup, remove the oil and water on the surface of the soup, or put it in the refrigerator, and then remove the oil and water on the surface. You can also drink some egg soup, tofu soup, etc.

The soup should be light with less salt and less seasoning. The baby's kidneys are not fully developed, and the excessive salt in the milk will burden the baby's kidneys. It is recommended that when making the soup, add salt to taste at the end, so that the salt tastes on the surface of the food, which can reduce the amount of soup, and the soup will not be dull and tasteless.

4. Drink chicken soup instead of old hens

Modern medicine has confirmed that eating more hens will not only increase milk secretion, but will also cause milk recovery.

The hen contains a lot of estrogen. If the new mother eats too much, the estrogen level in the mother will remain high, which will weaken or even disappear the function of prolactin, leading to the return of milk.

Studies have shown that androgens contained in roosters have the effect of antagonizing estrogen, which indirectly liberates prolactin, thereby increasing milk secretion. Therefore, it is better to eat a rooster after giving birth to a hen.

5. Adding tonics in the soup should be done under the guidance of a Chinese doctor

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that postpartum lactation is related to biased physique. Some medicated diets that promote lactation can be used. In this regard, it is recommended to be carried out under the guidance of professional Chinese doctors.

4. Relax and keep your spirits happy

Studies have shown that postpartum anxiety, depression and other negative emotions can delay the start of lactation and reduce the amount of lactation. Family members should fully care and help the new mother to relieve stress and relax.



Five, breast massage

Breast massage not only significantly relieves breast pain, but also promotes milk secretion and further improves the quality of lactation.



Breast massage technique: First use a hot towel to compress the breasts, then drip massage oil on the breasts, massage both breasts by rotating the palms clockwise, from the roots of the breasts up to the maternal nipple, and then squeeze around the areola with your thumb and index finger. Make the milk flow out.

Six, ensure sleep, take a good rest



The secretion of prolactin at night is more vigorous, so new mothers must pay attention to the combination of work and rest. At this time, the family should actively help the new mother to share the care of the child-related matters, so that the new mother can guarantee more than 8 hours of sleep time to avoid excessive fatigue.

Seven, strengthen the emotional communication between mother and child



The emotional communication between the new mother and the baby can stimulate the mother's emotional system of maternal love, such as early mother-to-child skin contact, which can help increase the milk production of the new mother.

Finally, breast milk is really insufficient and can only be added to infant formula milk powder.
